Memorise: Lo, children are the heritage of the LORD: and
the fruit of the womb is his reward. - Psalm 127:3
Read: (127:3-5 KJV)
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of
the womb is his reward.
4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are
children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they
shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the
enemies in the gate.

MESSAGE:
The word ‘heritage’ can refer to a cherished property or
inheritance of special architectural, historical or natural
value preserved from past generations. It can also refer to
an asset of monumental value. It reveals the sense of
history, strength, personality, character, importance,
authority and self-worth of a people or nation. God
commended Israel to document historical events,
covenants, laws and commandments that formed part of
their heritage in order to preserve them forever. The
heritage of the Lord is therefore something of inestimable
value that needs to be protected and watched over with all
diligence.
In the beginning, God created man in His own image and for
His own pleasure. Down the line, humanity fell and became
enslaved to sin. God then approached the slaved market
and repurchased us by offering the precious blood of His
Son, Jesus, as the ransom. By this heavy investment, God
secured a double claim of ownership over man: first, as the
beautiful work of His hands, and secondly as adopted
children brought with the precious blood of Jesus. Little
wonder the Bible in Psalm 127:3 refers to children as the
heritage of the Lord. Apart from children, the Bible also
speaks of people who identify with the Living God, such as
the nation of Israel and the body of Christ (the Church), as
the heritage of the Lord.
The realisation that children are the heritage of the Lord
should stir up a sense of gratitude and a sense of
responsibility in any serious Christian parent. Children
must be thankfully received as precious gifts from God. A
sacred charge is laid upon every parent to diligently
nurture and train the children in the way they should go, so
that when they are old, they will not depart from it. The
desire and prayer of every Christian parent should be that
God will grant them the grace to fulfil this solemn
responsibility.
In Psalm 127:4 , children are compared to arrows in the
hands of a mighty man. It is a known fact well-designed,
highly refined and balanced arrows and dangerous
weapons in the hand of warriors. In like manner, well
trained children are powerful weapons. In like manner, well
trained children are powerful weapons to their parents and
the Church of God. They are the future of their families, the
light of the world and the hope of the Church. They should
therefore be carefully instructed and nourished up in the
faith.
Prayer Point: Father, please help us to successful train our
children in the line with your word, and let your light shine
so brought in our children in this generation.
