Open Heavens 31 January 2015: Saturday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye - The Wonders of Divine Victory
Topic: The Wonders of Divine Victory [Saturday January
31, 2015]
Memorise: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but
we will remember the name of the LORD our God. - Psalm
20:7
Read: 1 Samuel 17:44-50
44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will
give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of
the field.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me
with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I
come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of
the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and
I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will
give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto
the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that
all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth
not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and
he will give you into our hands.
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and
came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and
ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a
stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his
forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell
upon his face to the earth.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and
with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but
there was no sword in the hand of David.
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 19:1-22 and Acts 18:1-23
MESSAGE:
The wonders of divine victory are inexplicable. How do you
explain the victory that King Jehoshaphat recorded in 2
Chronicles 20:15-24 ? How do you explain confronting the
armies of three kings with an orchestra and yet securing
total victory? This victory was a wonder because it was
divinely procured. Instead of organising bow and arrow,
shield and spear, and other war implements, Jehoshaphat
organised an orchestra that sang about the praise and
mercies of God. This is what the wonders of divine victory
look like:
“And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the
wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and,
behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and
none escaped.” - 2 Chronicles 20:24
The story of David’s victory over Goliath is another
classical example of the wonders of divine victory. If it is
not a wonder, how else would you describe a tiny boy
killing a giant man as if he was killing a straying lizard on
the wall of his father’s house? When the Almighty God
fights on the side of a person, apart from the fact that
victory is sure, the way and manner the victory would be
secured will produce wonders. When Goliath saw David, he
disdained him and cursed him by his gods. David
responded with these words:
“....Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a
spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the
name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of
Israel, whom thou hast defied.” - 1 Samuel 17:45
There was a spiritual power-play going on here. While
Goliath cursed David by his gods, David confronted him
with Jehovah Sabaoth. David knew that warfare is not won
by physical preparation alone. He knew it is even more
spiritual than physical, so he quickly switched on his
spiritual antenna. The story ends with the wonders of
divine victory. An ordinary stone in the hands of the
anointed of God fell a giant who a whole nation dreaded for
40 days. As a matter of fact, it was the sword of Goliath
that eventually severed his head from his body. David
believed in his God and he was not disappointed. The Lord
fought on David’s side, and the battle was decisive.
Prayer Point: Father, please fight my battles for me and
don’t let me be a victim of the battles of life.

‘I’d give anything to have Kefee back’ – Husband
(Widower of late gospel music star, Kefee, is surely yet to
get over the late singer’s death. Photo: Filed)
Popular OAP and widower of late gospel music star, Kefee
, Teddy Don Momoh is surely yet to get over the untimely
death of his wife.
Teddy is currently organising a post-humous album launch
for the late wife billed to hold on her birthday, February 5,
2015 in Lagos. Speaking with NET on late Kefee, the Radio/
Tv host said: ‘That’s my best friend, she was my only
friend, and there are so many things we planned to achieve
together but since she’s not here, her friend (Me) is still
here.’
Sharing some of the things they had planned to do together
before her untimely death in June 2014, Teddy said: ‘One of
the plans was releasing her album which is why I am doing
it now. Another side of her people won’t get to see is her
creative side, she actually wanted to have a conglomerate
of film making, she went to the best video directing school
in the world in Chicago and was a already certified video
director and it’s really painful that the world will not see
that part of her but thank God I’m here, I’m here to project
it.
‘Her new album, Blessed is a 12-track album and even at
that, we had to pick the best 12 from her pool of songs, she
will still be releasing albums for many years to come
because apart from this new album, she still has over 50
unreleased songs.’
While trying to press on with plans they had conceived
before the passing of his wife, Teddy, however, admits he
misses his wife in a way her cannot describe and says he
would give anything to have her back.
‘Just not seeing her around is the most important I miss
the most, not the things we did together or events we went
together, what I miss most is her presence and I’ll give
anything in the world to have it back.’

Keys to Effective Communication in Marriage by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
For you to communicate effectively, you need to first
understand what communication is. That is why we shall
be discussing the foundation of effective communication,
this week.
What is Communication? Communication can be defined as
the exchange of conversation, ideas and feelings between
two or more people. Communication is meant to be two-
sided and stimulating. In marriage, it is meant to be a
medium of sharing thoughts, feelings, ideas, etc, between a
man and his wife, thereby keeping your relationship going.
To be able to keep a free flow of communication with your
spouse and other members of your household, you must
first of all develop a good flow of communication with God,
your Creator. The Word of God says: For every house is
builded by some man; but he that built all things is God
(Hebrews 3:4). This Scripture gave us a clear picture that
the true Builder of a successful marriage is God. Therefore,
you must be able to communicate effectively with the
builder of all things, so you can have all it takes to build a
free flow communication line between you and your spouse,
and others around you.
It is very important for you to know that God is the ultimate
Builder of families and destinies. That is the reason most
couples lack effective communication in their marriage. It
will do you good, when you allow the communication line
between you and God to be open all the time. Learn to rub
minds with God; as you do so, His great mind will rub off
on your little mind and make it sharper in effective
communication with others.
How Do I Communicate Effectively with God? The following
are ways through which you can communicate effectively
with God:
A life of Prayer: A life of prayer is one of the major ways of
communicating with God. Prayer is simply the art of
communing with God. Prayer involves you talking to God,
and God talking to you. It is a two-way purposeful
conversation with God. The Word of God says: Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God (Philippians 4:6). This clearly shows that through the
medium of prayer, your request can be made known to God,
and you can expect answers from Him.
For you to be able to communicate with God effectively in
prayer, you need to first of all become His child. Salvation
is the only key to effective communication with God
otherwise, your prayer will be noise to God. Without a free
flow of communication with God, every other
communication will not be a smooth one. The Word of God
says: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your
mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it
may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).
A life of Thanksgiving, Praise and Worship: If you are
addicted to a life of thanksgiving, praise and worship to
God, it will definitely reflect in your everyday life with your
spouse and family members. The Word of God says: …
Teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16).
To be thankful is to be praiseful, to be praiseful is to be
joyful, to be joyful is to be ‘God-full.’ God’s Word says: …O
thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). Just
as fish cannot survive outside water, God cannot survive
outside praise. Accusations, murmuring and complaining
are signs of ingratitude to God, and can lead to destruction
(1 Corinthians 10:10).
Therefore, in all situations, remember that God is always
right! He is always working in your favour and for your
good. A grateful attitude is the secret!
As earlier mentioned, you need to surrender your life to
Christ, in order to effectively communicate with God, which
is the foundation for effective communication in marriage.
If you are set for this new birth experience, you can say
this prayer of faith:
Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me
of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver
me from sin and Satan, to serve the Living God. I accept
You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!
Congratulations! Till I come your way again next week, call
or write, and share your testimonies with me through:

Memorise: Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and
uphold me with thy free spirit. - Psalm 51:12
Read: Ezekiel 37:1-10
1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out
in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of
the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and,
behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo,
they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live?
And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and
say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will
cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh
upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you,
and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I
prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and
the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up
upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there
was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy,
son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon
these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath
came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their
feet, an exceeding great army.
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 16:14-18:23 and Acts
17:16-34
MESSAGE:
When the earth was in shambles in the beginning, the
wonder-working God restored it by His word (Genesis
1:1-3 ). It is interesting to note that the Almighty does not
only create, He also restores. I command the restoration
power of the Almighty to come upon you today in Jesus’
Name.
Our Bible text has a narrative that described the wonderful
restoration that God will give you today. It describes the
wonder of the restoration of very dry bones. Ezekiel here
was taken to the valley of dry bones. Dry bones of course
signify a state of hopelessness and lifelessness. Thank
God it was the Spirit of the Lord that carried Ezekiel to the
valley of dry bones; if it were an evil spirit, he himself
would have become one of them. When Ezekiel got to the
valley, there was a dialogue between him and the Almighty!
It is not amazing to discover that whenever God wants to
perform wonders, He dialogues? He also demonstrated this
character in the story of the feeding of the five thousand
(Matthew 14:15-18 ). This character of God does not mean
that He does not know what to do at any given time; He
just likes fellowshipping with man. From His dialogue with
Ezekiel, the wonder –working drama began.
The first lesson I will like to point out in the story is that
whenever the Spirit of God is upon an individual, the fellow
is empowered to do the impossible, like in the case of
Ezekiel here. He was not even sure whether the dry bones
could live or not. He pushed the answer back to God when
God asked him if the dry bones could live. This is the
second lesson we should learn. We must learn to
acknowledge the sovereignty of God in all matters, no
matter how pressing the need maybe or how ridiculous He
may sound (1 Corinthians 1:25&27 ).
Whenever we acknowledge and put the sovereignty of God
at the forefront, faith in the God of wonders will come.
Ezekiel responded positively to the instructions God gave
him concerning the dry bones. He prophesied as he was
commanded, and the result was a mighty army. We can
also learn from this story that without the Holy Spirit, there
is nothing we can do, but with Him, all things are possible.
Wherever the Spirit of God is, there is liberty, signs and
wonders. Signs and wonders will be your portion this
season in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer Point: Father, please speak to my situation and
restore to me all that the enemies have destroyed in my life
in Jesus’ Name

Jonathan's team threatens to declare "No Confidence" in INEC
Looks like reality is dawning on President Goodluck
Jonathan and his time that they may likely lose the poll if
things are not done right. Days to the February 14
presidential polls, the PDP candidate has indicated that he
was considering voicing a vote of no confidence in INEC.
Evidence of Jonathan’s latest decision emerged in a
statement released by Femi Fani-Kayode, the DG of media
and publicity for the PDP presidential campaign
organization.
Jonathan's team is not happy the way INEC is relating with
issues concerning Muhammadu Buhari:
“The electoral body must come clean on this matter;
otherwise we will be compelled to pass a no-confidence
vote in it,” the president’s publicist said. “If INEC is
complicit in the desperate and despicable attempt to
extricate General Buhari, without compliance with the
provisions of the law, from this lingering embarrassment,
we will have no other choice than to harbor the suspicion
and fear that the electoral body is already compromised
and can lend itself to the ungodly agenda of truncating our
victory when our candidate wins.”

Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization,

CERTIFICATE SAGA: BUHARI SINKS DEEPER WITH LIES!
Yesterday, General Muhammadu Buhari made a shocking
and belated disclosure that the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) has his documents. He has
not been specific about the documents he is referring to
but it is very clear that this is yet another squalid attempt
to give the Nigerian people the impression that INEC has
his certificate. If this is true, it represents a somersault
from his original position which was that INEC has his
affidavit and it once again reveals General Buhari for what
he is.
With this latest antic, General Buhari is obviously trying to
smuggle a newly acquired certificate into INEC through the
backdoor. If this is true and if INEC allows such a thing to
happen, it would put a serious question mark on its
impartiality and credibility. It would mean that it has
collected his newly acquired certificate, 40 days outside
the stipulation of the Law.
We say this because Section 31(3) of the Electoral Act says
INEC “shall within 7 days of the receipt of the receipt of the
personal particulars of the candidate, publish same in the
constituency...”
Buhari’s words are as follows: “Well, I am not surprised.
This is Nigeria. If people are “serious” about this issue,
they ought to have listened to the LEGAL ADVISER of
INEC” (Is Buhari saying Nigerians are unserious by seeking
to know the truth?)
Continuing, he says: “This is the first time, INEC by law has
got those documents and they said they have got them. So
anybody who has different view should go to court. So let
them remain there.”
Those were the words of General Muhammadu Buhari (NOT
MOHAMMED BUHARI), the APC presidential candidate.
It appears as if the more our alleged “Mr. Incorruptible”
attempts to wash himself clean, the more he digs deeper in
the pit of falsehood and perjury.
Now, below are facts already in the public domain, which
are incontrovertible:
1. That Muhammadu Buhari (Not Mohammed Buhari)
neither submitted nor attached any personal document to
form CF001 he filled to INEC.
2. That the INEC form part C specifically stated that
PERSONAL (i.e. Certificate) documents should be attached
but Buhari did not attach any as of 18th December, 2014,
the last day according to INEC guidelines for submission of
form CF001.
3. That Buhari was the only candidate whose documents
were not published like other presidential candidates as
stipulated by law, having not attached any certificate
previously.
4. That INEC had acknowledged that fact after publication
of particulars of all candidates last year and had not
controverted these facts, having itself published the
documents attached by all other candidates except Buhari
who did not submit any document apart from INEC's own
CF001 form and an affidavit, a court document all of which
do not represent PERSONAL DOCUMENT of Buhari.
5.That as at 12 midnight on 30th December, 2014, the
expiration of time provided by law for the substitution of
candidates, APC did not avail itself that opportunity of
substituting the unqualified Buhari for a duly qualified
presidential candidate.
6. That Buhari's only response in his affidavit form in the
public domain and displayed by INEC in the 774 LGAs that
form the single constituency for presidential contestants
was to the effect that "All my academic qualifications and
certificates are currently with the secretary of the military
Board as at the time of this affidavit dated 24/11/2014."
This affidavit, a very arrogant and whimsical response that
his credentials were with the Military Authorities, is in the
public domain. If Buhari’s assertion is true, the question is,
what is INEC now up to collecting new documents from him
through the backdoor, 40 days after the requirement of
law?
7. That the military authorities came in the open to clarify
that the only document in respect of Buhari's WASC was an
anticipatory letter by his principal that "Buhari would pass"
- NOT THAT BUHARI PASSED.
8. That Buhari's imperial response at a later press
conference was that his alma mater, Government College
Katsina, would publish his result when available. How
come he now says that INEC has collected his document
and why should INEC do so after the statutory time limit?
9. That what Government College Katsina published was at
best a hand-written result of one MOHAMMED BUHARI and
not MUHAMMADU BUHARI or at worse a complete forgery.
Fellow Nigerians, Why should General Muhammadu Buhari
refer Nigerians to hear from one legal adviser in INEC? The
same INEC that its Director of legal services, one (Mr.
Ibrahim Bawa) who, earlier in response to numerous
inquiries shortly after on December i8, 2014, told the press
that INEC had published all that presidential candidates
submitted which in the case of Buhari are just FORM CF001
(no certificate attached) and affidavit which is court papers
and not personal document.
It will be interesting to know at which point the affidavit
transmuted into additional documents or when additional
documents were provided to INEC in line with law as noted
above.
What Nigerians Should Note
By Buhari's latest statement, we want to alert Nigerians to
the following questions which the INEC Chair, Attahiru
Jega, the so-called legal adviser whom a consultant, duly
contracted by INEC, had recommended for redeployment
and the APC, must HONESTLY answer:
A. WHEN DID INEC AND THIS LEGAL ADVISER RECEIVE
THE DOCUMENTS GIVEN THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ON
RECORD FOR HIM AFTER 18TH DECEMBER 2014?
B. WERE THESE MYSTERIOUS DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
WITHIN OR AFTER THE TIME FRAME SPECIFIED BY THE
ELECTORAL GUIDELINES?
C. Could this be the source of Buhari’s renewed arrogance
that anybody not satisfied should go to court?
D. HAS INEC PUBLISHED THESE DOCUMENTS AS
REQUIRED BY LAW?
E. Who is in breach of the Electoral Act, Section 31:3-
Buhari or Ibrahim Bawa?
The Electoral Body must come clean on this matter;
otherwise we will be compelled to pass a no-confidence
vote in it. If INEC is complicit in the desperate and
despicable attempt to extricate General Buhari, without
compliance with the provisions of the law, from this
lingering embarrassment, we will have no other choice
than to harbor the suspicion and fear that the Electoral
Body is already compromised and can lend itself to the
ungodly agenda of truncating our victory when our
candidate wins.
We also want the election observers to keep watch of the
unfolding events regarding General Buhari’s qualification
or otherwise. In other countries, it is about obeying the rule
of law and not about protecting the political interest of an
individual, especially since a free, fair and credible election
is not about the day of voting alone but also the processes
leading up to it.
I thank you for listening.

A man reportedly jumped from 3rd Mainland Bridge into the lagoon this morning
this morning people said they
saw a well dressed man driving a Toyota Sienna who
parked on Third Mainland bridge, calmly walked over the
rails and jumped into the sea. They said it happened so fast
they couldn't believe they had witnessed an apparent
suicide. Hopefully, we will get more details when
government agencies in charge of such things get involved.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Keys to Effective Communication in Marriage
So far, I have taught on the foundation of effective
communication and the keys of listening, talking and
understanding. There is no doubt, God has opened your
eyes to see something that will improve your
communication with your spouse and family members. You
shall not fail in Jesus’ name!
Today, we shall be looking at what I captioned, Corrupt
Communication! Evidently, there are factors to beware of,
that stand against the will to build effective communication
in marriage and home.
Choosing the right words is a must for couples and other
members of the family, if there must be a good relationship
between them. Corrupt communication is the opposite of
edifying communication. You can pass across the negative,
just as effectively as the positive. Any communication that
tears down, separates or pollutes the mind is said to be
corrupt.
This form of communication actually proceeds from the
mouth, but has its root in the heart. When all you think
about your spouse is negative and your focus is only on his
or her deficiencies, eventually all that will proceed out of
your mouth will be corrupt. God’s Word says: …For out of
the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh (Matthew
12:34).
Below is a testimony of a sister, who God healed from
corrupt communication:
“Some time in 1990, my husband lost his job and from
then, our struggles started. Later, a sister in Christ gave me
some money to start a business. Since then, I began to
ignore the teachings of the Bishop and his wife on pride,
and no longer respected my husband. I insulted him
whenever he talked to me, because I was the one fending
for the family. He began to complain of the way I talked to
him, saying that there was no sign to show that I was born
again, that I was behaving like one of the worldly women.
Yesterday, I came for the International Women Convention,
and there was a miming presentation on the use of the
tongue. I learnt how to speak correctly to my husband, and
regretted the indecent way I had treated him in the past. On
reaching home, I knelt down to greet him and he was
surprised, because I had not done that before. There and
then, he believed that something good would come out of
the convention.
Formerly, whenever he wanted us to have our morning
prayers, I would shun him and tell him to say his own
prayers, that I would pray whenever it pleased me. But this
morning, I was the one that woke him and the children up
for prayers.” – Omotosho, O.
There are some homes that are badly damaged and in
serious trouble, because the tongue is not being controlled;
they are victims of corrupt communication. God’s Word
says: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your
mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it
may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).
Some men call their wives and children all kinds of terrible
names out of anger. Some women are full of nagging. I
want you to know that God did not create the tongue to
speak evil words; rather, it is meant to be an instrument of
edification. Sweet and bitter water cannot proceed from the
same source at the same time. So many people misuse the
tongue, simply because they lack an understanding of its
purpose. You have the responsibility to guard what you say
with your mouth.
Corrupt Communication has a lot of consequences, among
which are:
It Brings Strife (Proverbs 15:1). A wise man
once said, “Ninety per cent of the friction of daily
life is caused by the wrong tone of voice
It Destroys Destiny (Proverbs 13:3; Numbers
14:22-24). The 10 Spies destroyed their
destinies by the words of their mouth.
It Procures Death (Acts 5:1-10). This was the
case with Ananias and Sapphira. They lied with
their mouths and procured the wrath of God.
It Leads To Hell (Revelation 21:8). All liars shall
not only die physically here, but shall have a
part in the second death.
It Leads You And Others To Sin (Ecclesiastes
5:6, Genesis 3). By deceit, which is manifested
by words from the mouth, the serpent made man
to fall. It is a sin to make others commit error, by
the words of your mouth. The words of your
mouth matter to God. Guide it!
Note that successful communication equals successful
marriage. This is preceded by a life in Christ. Someone has
rightly said, “To live in sin is an old fashion.” Life in Christ
turns you to a new man, and helps you to live life without
stress. If you this is your wish, please say this prayer of
faith with me:
Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me
of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver
me from sin and Satan, to serve the Living God. I accept
You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!

Open Heavens 29 January 2015: Thursday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye - Storehouse for Wonders
Topic: Storehouse for Wonders [Thursday January 29,
2015]
Memorise: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. -
Psalm 23:1
Read: 1 Kings 17:12-16
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a
cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a
cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go
in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and
die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou
hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring
it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal
shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the
day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah:
and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse
of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he
spake by Elijah.
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 14:1-16:13 and Acts 17:1-15
MESSAGE:
You will observe that ever since God rested from His work
in Genesis 2:2 , He has been working on and through His
earlier creations in propagating His purpose. For example,
God never created another set of man and woman after the
first man and woman had been created. Rather, he charged
those He had already created to be fruitful, to multiply and
to replenish the earth ( Genesis 1:28 ).
When God is confronted with a need, He will use what is
already available in His creation to meet that need.
When God was confronted with the need to feed His prophet
for a number of years during a famine, He needed a
storehouse of wonders to meet this need. The widow of
Zarephath’s house became this storehouse for wonders.
The man of God, Elijah, discovered a barrel of flour and a
cruse of oil that were almost empty in this house. However,
it was not the prophet but the God of wonders who located
that storehouse for wonders, and He sent His prophet there
(1 Kings17:8-9 ). We must learn some lessons from this
story of the storehouse for wonders. First, the house was
available for the God of wonders to use. My prayer for you
is that whenever the God of wonders wants to turn a house
to a house for wonders, it will be yours in Jesus’ Name.
The question is: will you be ready to surrender your house
to the God of wonders to use for His glory?
Secondly, the widow did not shy away from a difficult
assignment. Although it was a difficult thing for her to give
Elijah her last meal, she obeyed the command of God and
did as the prophet said. Hence her house became the
storehouse for wonders. Her barrel of flour and her cruse of
oil became instruments of wonders. Thirdly, this woman
did not only know the wonder-working God, she was a
sincere and straightforward woman of faith. She stated her
case as it was. She said, “This is our last meal; we can’t
part with it.” If it were some of us, we would not even
admit that we have anything at all. This woman seemed to
be saying to herself, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not
want, even if I surrender my last meal to Him.” This
woman exposed her miracle meal to the wonder-working
God to work with. This was the exact thing the young lad in
Matthew 14:17-20 did, and he went home with twelve
basketfuls as the interest on the five loaves and two fishes
he lent to the wonder-working Lord. I pray that the Lord
will feed you fat even in the time of famine in Jesus’ Name.
Action Point: Determine to lend to God by way of
sacrificially giving to His work this year, and you will see
the glory of God.

‘I’m good enough to be Nigeria’s President’ – Davido
(Davido says he is good enough to be the President of
Nigeria. Photo: HKN)
You are not wrong to think the presidential candidate of the
All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari is not the
only person seeking Goodluck Jonathan ‘s job. Just that the
latest addition to that list is a bit interesting.
The fellow is none other than award winning pop star
and HKN boss, Davido who has said he is good enough to
be the president of Nigeria.
If given the opportunity, Davido doesn’t sound unprepared
at all as he has highlighted some of the things he’ll do uf
he gets to occupy the highest office in the land. While
responding to MTV Base’s Choose or Lose Vox Pop, the
‘Aye’ singer declared his intention to be the first entertainer
to become Nigeria’s president in the 45-second video.
Davido began by stating his readiness to vote in the
forthcoming elections: ‘Yes I’m voting, I want my voice to
be heard, there’s no point in complaining if you are not
going to vote.’
And when asked if he’ll love to see a celebrity as Nigeria’s
president, who the person will be and why, Davido
responded: ‘I think I’m good enough to be president,
because it’s me, I want to be the president.’
He went on to outline some of the things he’ll do if he is
named President for just one day: ‘I’ll fix all the bad roads,
I’ll fix up the currency of course, and different other things,
as much as I can do in a day I’ll do.’
Davido wants the youth to take over governance in the
country in order to provide better roads, cleaner
environment and better structured cities and it remains to
be seen just how serious he is in future, given he is from a
family with a history of political involvement.
Davido is surely not the first to declare that ambition. Late
rapper, DaGrin once declared the dream of becoming
Nigeria’s president in one of his songs.

Obasanjo replies Bishop Oyedepo over 'Gate of Hell' comment?
Since the alleged statement credited to Bishop David
Oyedepo that he would open the gates of hell for those
against President Goodluck Jonathan or his government hit
the net, there has been many reactions.
But one is standing out, and it is allegedly coming from
Baba himself, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was
said to have replied Bishop Oyedepo and cautioned him
against such partisan prayers.
Obasanjo through his twitter handle on Monday said that
no pastor could tell Nigerians who to vote:
“We all want #CHANGE. Vote based on what you
know not on religious or tribal sentiments! No one
has the key to hell! Don’t be threatened!"
“Has Bishop Oyedepo spoken out to condemn the
legalised looting of Billions of Dollars taking place
under the watch of President Jonathan?"
“Did Bishop Oyedepo condemn the failure of the President
to rescue the Chibok girls 9 months after they were
kidnapped by the insurgents?
“Did Bishop Oyedepo speak out to condemn the manner in
which the almost 300 Chibok girls were kidnapped?
“Did Oyedepo speak out when ASUU & ASUP were on strike
twice in 4 years thereby leading to the loss of almost 2
years in the academic calendar?”
Obasanjo was not done. He tweeted: “How many of the
Pastors that are telling you to vote for GEJ have children
who are unemployed graduates sitting at home?
“A man of God that does not have the key to free our
beloved Chibok girls from captivity, [said he] has the key to
hell... GOD HELP US!"

Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Keys to Effective Communication in Marriage
Keys to Effective Communication in Marriage
Today, we shall
be discussing the Keys Of Talking And Listening, as
another vital key of effective communication. Silence, we
all know, is only permitted in the grave. The only proof of
life, therefore, is communication in its various forms.
Communication is a two-way process that involves talking
and listening. Couples need to spend time communicating
with each other, because such time spent is never a waste,
but an investment. It is not so much of how long, but how
well. This helps in developing personal relationship with
each other. Someone has said, “A good communicator is
always a good listener.” That is, a good communicator is
not one who talks all the time, but one who knows when to
talk and when to listen (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Can you imagine how frustrating it will be for you to
receive a phone call from a friend, who spends twenty
minutes talking, never allowing you to say a word? It is
quite frustrating! For communication to be effective, when
one is talking, the other person should listen. God’s Word
says: Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be
swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath (James 1:19).
This simply means that you should listen more than you
talk. Perhaps, this is the reason God gave man two ears,
but only one mouth, I believe.
One person should not be the only one talking throughout.
No matter your temperament, never monopolize a
discussion. Give room to your spouse or other members of
the family to express themselves, as well. If your partner is
an introvert, and you are an extrovert, be patient enough to
allow him time to talk and wait for him to finish before you
respond. Know that good lovers are usually good listeners.
Learn to listen!
It is important for us to know that men generally are direct
in communication, while most of the time women are not.
Women talk to get relief, while men talk to pass across
information. Women talk to express their feelings, because
to them, this is a process of proffering solutions to their
problems, but men think logically to solve problems. Most
of the time, wives just need their husbands to listen to them
and not necessarily to proffer solutions to their demands.
Women communicate their feelings by making general
statements. For instance, a woman says, “We never go
out” while she is expressing her desire for another date.
The man responds sharply with statements like “We went
out last week”. Understanding is the key, and in order to be
able to fully grasp what your wife wants, you have to read
from what she says and you must first listen to her.
There are various ways you can enhance effective
communication in your marriage. They are, but not limited
to:
Openness: There should be no hide-and-seek game
between you and your spouse, because you are now one.
No one keeps secrets from himself. So, feel free to discuss
anything and everything about yourself, with your spouse.
It is not possible for the toe to hurt without the brain
knowing; they are both members of one body.
Similarly, God expects that when two become one in holy
wedlock, nothing should be kept as secret between them.
Both must be open to one another and walk in sincerity.
When a man takes a woman as a wife, the Bible declares
that in God’s eyes, they are one flesh (Mark 10:8).
The devil often leads people into thinking that if they open
up completely, they may never be accepted for who they
are or that when their spouses hear the whole truth about
an issue, they won’t love them anymore. But this is a lie.
God’s Word says: And they were both naked, the man and
his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:25). If in the
beginning, the man and his wife were naked but did not
experience shame, then it follows that if you apply the
same principle of openness to your marriage, shame will
not be your portion!
Appreciation: For every little thing or gift you receive from
your spouse, learn to appreciate it because this will
provoke him or her to go the extra mile to do anything for
you. Appreciate the fact that you are married to him or her.
Continuous Forgiveness: Keeping of grudges and offences
will create distance between you and your spouse. This
eventually degenerates to anger, which stirs up bitterness
and hatred that blocks the free flow of effective
communication. Never you go to bed at night with
something against your spouse in your heart. If you do, you
have given the devil room to penetrate your marriage
through nightmares, for instance. Make sure whatever
needs to be sorted out, is done same day. You shall not fail
in Jesus’ name!
To fulfill marital responsibilities, as discussed here, you
need to secure God’s grace by giving your life to Christ. If
you are not born again and you want to do so today, please
say this prayer:
Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me
of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver
me from sin and Satan, to serve the Living God. I accept
You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!

Open Heavens 28 January 2015: Wednesday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye - Workshop for Wonder
Topic: Workshop for Wonder [Wednesday January 28,
2015]
Memorise: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the
Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good,
and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God
was with him. - Acts 10:38
Read: (John 9:1-7 KJV)
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind
from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin,
this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his
parents: but that the works of God should be made
manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is
day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and
made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the
blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which
is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and
washed, and came seeing.
Bible in one year: Jeremiah 11:13, Acts 16:16-40
MESSAGE:
A potential recipient of uncommon miracles is a workshop
of wonders. A classic example is the man born blind in
today’s Bible reading. No artisan or craftsman can do his
work effectively without a workshop. It may amaze you that
candidates for miracles are workshops for the miracle-
working Jesus. When the disciples confronted Jesus on
whether the blind man was born blind as a result of sin, He
said neither the man or his parents did sin. Jesus said he
was born blind so that the works of God might be made
manifest in him. Jesus swung into action immediately; with
His creative divine ability, He produced brand new eyes for
this man.
You too can be a workshop for the great Miracle-worker
provided you are willing to receive your miracle today.
There are several things we should learn from the blind
man that qualified him as a workshop for wonders. One of
these is that this man was available for the wonders. One
of these is that this man was available for the miracle.
Before someone can be a workshop for wonders, he or she
must be available. The blind man was there at the right
time when the Miracle-worker was to do His work! Another
thing about this man is that he surrendered himself for
Jesus to work on. The Bible says:
“When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground,
and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes
of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go,
wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by
interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and
washed, and came seeing.” - John 9:6-7
This blind man did not only surrender himself to be worked
upon, he carried out all the actions necessary for the
actualisation of his miracle. The miracle would not have
taken place if he had not cooperated with the Workman –
Jesus, by washing at the pool of Siloam. Naaman was
another workshop for wonders who cooperated with the
process required for the actualisation of his miracle;
although this came after his initial self-aggrandisement
that would have robbed him of his miracle (2nd Kings
5:13-14 ). My pastoral advice to you is that you should
exercise complete obedience in humility of God, His word
and His ministers if you want to live in the miraculous this
year.
Prayer Point: Father, please make me a workshop for your
miracles. Let not my hour of miracles elude me.
